Problem Note 35573: Objects in table view disappear after updating permissions and doing a manual refresh in SAS® Management Console's Authorization Manager

DetailsAboutRate It

A manual refresh that is performed in SAS Management Console's Authorization Manager might cause the objects to disappear from the table view.

This problem might occur if you preform the following steps:

  1. Select Authorization Manager ► Resource Management ► By Application.
  2. Expand SAS Folders.
  3. Select a parent folder that contains objects and subfolders.
  4. Update the permissions on the Authorization tab.
  5. Click OK.
  6. Right-click the same parent folder, and then select Refresh.

Following the refresh, the following symptoms might occur:

  • An hourglass appears and stays active.
  • Subfolders or objects disappear that were once in the table view for the parent folder.
  • An exception that is similar to the following appears in the SASMC Error log:

[SasLoginModule] Adding credential sasadm@saspw ******* InternalAuth.
    Exception in thread "AWT-EventQueue-0" java.lang.NullPointerException

  • The expand or collapse icons disappear from the parent folder.

Selecting other folders might not cause the hourglass to disappear. In addition, the problem will reoccur after another refresh of the same parent folder.

To correct this problem, you must restart SAS Management Console. After SAS Management Console is restarted, the table view will be displayed correctly.
